Keely Hodgkinson finished her two-lap season with a triumph at the all-female Athlos event in NYC on Friday night.
{The current Olympic champion, who earned bronze at the global championships last month, excelled in an outstanding win in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a year affected by a muscle issue.
Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Hunter Bell finished second again in one minute 58.33 seconds, while St Vincent's Shafiqua Maloney (1:58.57) claimed third.
"I've barely raced this season so it was probably easier for me to go out there and want to give it something," said Hodgkinson.
"The environment out there is incredible so it was extremely enjoyable."
The women-only meet filled Icahn Stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to traditional track, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.
The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis O., was on hand to present the winners with their crowns.
Previous champions received sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - one of the largest prize purses in track and field.
The competition also attracted several top athletes, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.
American Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from the recent Paris Games, won the 100m and 200m double.
