New England tied their best victory streak since the Brady era as they overcame division opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football

First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since iconic QB Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019

QB Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 25 of 34 passes

The triumph extends the Patriots lead at the summit of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses

The visitors had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with QB Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to finish the Jets' first possession

But the Patriots answered in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two short rushing scores before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to push the score to 21-7

"That was a big time for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of Henderson. "He aims to be outstanding."

Justin Fields connected with Metchie late in the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales kicked a two field goals in the final period as the home side closed out the victory
